Okay, it is rarely that I don’t catch up with the latest games out there but when I do, I am completely ignorant about those games. Like really, I think to myself, “where was I when this game was announced and I didn’t know about it?” This happened to me on ARK. What is ARK? When was this game released? I assume there is combat in this game. What are the different ARK weapons? What is the whole point of this game? Yes, I don’t know either and read on to catch up with me as I share the things I find out about this game. If you don’t know about this game as well, good! Let us find out together for the first time.
ARK Weapons: About ARK
ARK, also known as Ark: Survival Evolved, is an open-world survival game. No, this is not another zombie survival world but the game involves action and adventure.
The game was and is being developed by Studio Wildcard. I used the term “is being developed” because apparently the game isn’t released yet. People who are playing the game right now got early access dating back 2015. ARK was made available (early access) for Windows the earliest in June 2015. The OS X and Linux followed in July the same year. The first console that got early access was the Xbox One in December 2015. Playstation 4 got access a year after Xbox One.
Going back to what the game is, ARK requires players to survive being stranded on an island. Nothing special, right? Wrong! The island is filled with dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. Good thing you are not alone in the island. Other NPC and players are present there as well, trying to survive the same fate. But beware, they can go against you and can be more dangerous compared to those big dinosaurs.
We cannot classify the game as first person or third person because you have both options to do so. We can choose either of the two to our comfort during combat. Speaking of combat, an ARK weapon can be crafted out of the materials you gather on the island. So you might be thinking, what can weapons made out of sticks and stones do against towering dinosaurs? Well, don’t fret. You can build bases as well to defend yourself if the fight is beyond control. Oh not to mention you can tame those dinosaurs and use their abilities as you need them. Can you imagine the a big dino fight?!
Everything relies on roaming the island to gather materials for food, weapons and the materials to fortify your base. Now that I think of it, ARK is like Minecraft meets Monster Hunter. I am not sure if you can carve the dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals after defeating them and make them food source like that of Monster Hunter. Anyways, Minecraft because you get to build a base out of the materials you gather and Monster Hunter because you have to deal with those humongous monsters to survive.
The game is looking good right now. It is said that ARK is going to be released this year and I’m glad that I didn’t miss it. Are you excited for this game as well? Let me know in the comments section below!
